ED Coding & Documentation Education
ED Coding & Documentation Courses from ERcoder
This in-service provides a clear introduction to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the American Medical Association (AMA) documentation guidelines. This seminar also covers typical documentation problems specific to emergency medicine - such as the documentation of procedures performed in the ED, accurate documentation of critical care services, and supporting documentation for diagnostic studies ordered through the ED.
This two- to three-hour presentation is designed for the experienced ED coder. Using real-life scenarios, it covers advanced and complex issues such as coding an E&M with a procedure, teaching physician services, PA services and others. Beyond the Basics incorporates references to CMS and CPT guidelines for the topics covered and includes time for Q/A.
PQRS is a Medicare initiative that offers financial incentives for participation in a voluntary quality reporting program. ED physicians who successfully report a designated set of quality measures on claims during the reporting period can earn a bonus payment for Medicare services. This presentation will help your coding staff understand the documentation requirements for reporting PQRS codes and how to accurately assign the codes for the services provided by the ED physician.
This full-day workshop covers everything coders and physicians need to know about coding and documentation for emergency physician services. The session combines lectures, group work and hands-on chart review that both experienced and new coders will find beneficial. The session includes a 45 minute break for lunch and two short breaks in the morning and afternoon.
